Tennessee Honey.

To the neon signs and empty streets,
to the hoots of owls, and the howls of dogs;
To the starlit sky, and the bright old moon,
to the dancing trees, and the rustling leaves;
And everything else that stands watch
in this big ol’ city.

Beware the scarred body, and the restless mind,
and the whimpering soul, and scarlet-eyes;
Beware the (wo)man who thinks, and dreams,
when the city sleeps and the machines rest,
enduring the night for dawn to hit.

Only an inch, a word, a thought away;
Before Will takes over the reins;
And when it does,
beware – the whisper in your ears
as sweet as honey.

Cause the last of what you’ll see after…
is the hail mary you never saw coming.
